Exciting news has emerged from GREE Entertainment, who recently announced a new addition to the cast for the highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” This new character will make their debut in episode 18, titled “I Just Want a Relaxing Hot Spring Soak.”

Himika Akaneya will voice Ryuulan, the leader of the mysterious subterranean people known as the “Underman.” This addition is sure to bring a fresh dynamic to the series, which has captivated audiences with its unique blend of adventure and humor.

The second season of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” premiered on October 6 on Tokyo MX and BS NTV. Fans eager to dive into the new episodes can also catch the series early on d Anime Store and ABEMA, which began streaming on October 4.

The musical score for the second season is equally impressive. Kiyono Yasuno will perform the opening theme song, “Algorithm,” while iโ˜†Ris will handle the ending theme, “Yume no Hitokakera” (Fragment of a Dream). These tracks are sure to enhance the viewing experience and add depth to the story.

The light novel series, originally written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko, has been a massive hit. The story revolves around Krai and his friends who dream of becoming the greatest treasure hunters. However, Krai’s journey takes a different turn as he seeks a peaceful retirement amidst the dangers of their adventurous lifestyle.

J-Novel Club is responsible for publishing the novels in English, offering fans a chance to delve deeper into the world of “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” The series is described as a thrilling adventure set in a golden age for treasure hunters, where wealth, fame, and glory are within reach for those brave enough to seek them.

The first season of the anime debuted in October 2024, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired. The production team behind the first season included Masahiro Takata as the director and sound director, Hideki Shirane handling the series scripts, and Yusuke Isouchi and Shingo Fujisaki designing the characters. The music was composed by Ryลhei Sataka, with Avex Pictures overseeing the music production.

The original light novel series began serialization on the Shลsetsuka ni Narล website in January 2018 and concluded in December 2018. Micro Magazine published the first print volume in August 2018, with the 13th volume released on September 30. While Sol Press initially licensed the novel series in 2020, it was J-Novel Club that rescued the license in July 2022, releasing the first volume in March 2023. The eighth novel volume was published on October 6.

The manga adaptation, illustrated by Rai Hebino, debuted on Kadokawa’s ComicWalker website in April 2019. The manga’s 11th compiled book volume was published on April 25. Yen Press is handling the English publication of the manga, with the ninth volume released on February 18 and the 10th volume scheduled for January 20, 2026.
