Love Through a Prism: A New Manga Adaptation on the Horizon
Shueisha has announced an exciting new development for fans of the upcoming anime series Love Through a Prism, also known as Prism Rondo. This original series, created by the renowned Yoko Kamio, who is famous for Boys Over Flowers, will soon have a manga adaptation. The manga will be penned by Maki Minami, the talented artist behind Special A. This adaptation is set to launch on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service on January 8.
Love Through a Prism is a heartwarming coming-of-age love story set in the vibrant city of London at the dawn of the 1900s. The narrative follows Lili Ichijoin, an aspiring painter and art student who makes a pact with her parents: she must become the top student at her art school within half a year, or she will return home. Her journey takes a dramatic turn when she encounters Kit Church, a wealthy heir and prodigious artist, sparking a fierce rivalry between them.
The anime series is scheduled to debut on Netflix on January 15. Atsumi Tanezaki will voice the lead character, Lili Ichijoin. Kamio is overseeing the original story and character designs, and she is collaborating with Saki Fujii on the scripts. The series will be directed by Kazuto Nakazawa at Wit Studio, with Yasuko Takahashi serving as one of the chief animation directors and character designer. The music for the series will be composed by Naoki Chiba.
Minami’s extensive experience in the manga industry includes works like Komomo Confiserie, which she began in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine in 2013 and concluded in December 2014. Viz Media released the final volume of this series in September 2016. Additionally, Minami has worked on Seiyu ka—!, which was published by Viz Media under the title Voice Over!: Seiyuu Academy. Her Special A manga also inspired a television anime series in 2008, which was released in North America by Sentai Filmworks.
Minami’s latest work, If You Keep It Secret, Flower, concluded in December 2024 after launching in Hakusensha’s Melody magazine in October 2022. The third and final compiled book volume was published digitally on May 2.
