The highly anticipated Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise has unveiled a new visual, promotional video, and a roster of main cast members for its 20th-anniversary project, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance. Fans were thrilled to see the latest developments revealed on Saturday.

The promotional video features the powerful song “Never Surrender” by Nana Mizuki, setting the tone for the upcoming series.


The anime will feature a compelling cast, including:

Azusa Tachibana as Shiina Kuze, a high school student living on an isolated island with her sister Setsuna. Shiina is part of a hunting association tasked with eliminating invasive alien species.

The story of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance unfolds 30 years after an unknown alien species threatened global destruction. Humanity now lives in a fragile peace, constantly on the brink of collapse. Amidst this turmoil, the United Nations Investigation Agency EXCEEDS fights against the alien threat and natural disasters. Shiina Kuze, a hunter on the isolated island of Mizuho, seeks a quiet life with her sister Setsuna while battling the invasive species.

The anime is set to premiere in July, directed by Takayuki Hamana at Seven Arcs. Issei Aragaki will serve as both character designer and chief animation director, with Shūichi Kawakami providing the original character designs. Additionally, Masaki Tsuzuki, the franchise’s co-creator, is credited as the original story creator and scriptwriter.

In addition to the new anime, a manga adaptation titled Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS launched on Kodansha’s Wednesday Sirius service in April 2025. The manga is written by Masaki Tsuzuki and illustrated by Shūichi Kawakami.

The franchise’s 20th-anniversary celebrations also include Lyrical Selection, a television edit of the franchise’s first two movies, which began airing in October 2024.

The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise, created by Masaki Tsuzuki, Akiyuki Simbo, and Seven Arcs, debuted in 2004 with the television anime series. Since then, it has expanded to include multiple TV series, movies, manga, novels, and drama CDs, captivating fans worldwide.
