“Clockwork Girl” is set in the year 2099, where humanity has advanced medical technology to unprecedented levels with the development of “Somadea.” This technology allows for the healing of all injuries and illnesses, but it has also given rise to a new breed of criminals who misuse it for nefarious purposes. To combat this, the government has established a Bounty Hunter System, where civilians can earn substantial rewards by taking down illegal Somadea users.
The story follows Ubu Kamigori, a bounty hunter navigating this treacherous world. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she encounters Mr. Elegance, a figure from her past, setting the stage for a gripping tale of mechanical intrigue and high-stakes action.
The Japanese cast of “Clockwork Girl” includes a roster of talented voice actors who bring the characters to life with depth and emotion. The film opened in Japan on June 27 at Cine Libre Ikebukuro in Tokyo and Theatre Umeda in Osaka, where it topped the mini-theater rankings.
Yasuomi Umetsu, known for his work on “Kite,” “Mezzo,” “Girl’s High,” and “Kiss and Cry,” is at the helm of this project, directing and designing the characters. The series composition and script are handled by Yลซya Takahashi, who has previously worked on “Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible” and “Lupin III: Part IV.” The main animators include Gen’ichirou Abe, Shinya Takahashi, and Maho Kando, each bringing their unique expertise to the project.
