Otters Take the Spotlight: A New Anime Series Debuts in October
The anime industry is buzzing with excitement as a fresh and adorable series is set to hit the screens. The production company MMDGP has unveiled “Anira to Kokora,” a delightful short television anime that features anthropomorphized sea otters. This charming series is scheduled to premiere on Kansai TV on October 2 at 27:15 JST, which translates to October 3 at 3:15 a.m. JST.
The anime will introduce viewers to the endearing sea otter brothers, Anira and Kokora. Shuta Morishima will lend his voice to Anira, the cool yet naive older brother, while Shugo Nakamura will voice Kokora, the passionate and adoring younger sibling. The series aims to capture the hearts of audiences with its adorable depiction of sea otters, a species that has seen a decline in captivity in Japan.
The story revolves around Anira and Kokora, who reside in a certain aquarium. Their dynamic relationship, with Anira’s cool demeanor and Kokora’s passionate nature, promises to bring laughter and warmth to viewers. The anime seeks to rekindle the love for sea otters, which were once beloved in aquariums but have since become a rare sight.
MMDGP is at the helm of this project, overseeing the planning and execution. Manga-creating Vtuber Imai Nosharu is responsible for the characters and comics, while Suzuna Takamura is crafting the scripts. Hiroshi Namiki will direct the anime at MMDGP’s Kachidoki Studio. The sound production is being handled by Tatooine Sound, with Yu Saito directing the sound and Yuichiro Nakanishi in charge of the background music and sound effects.
Adding to the charm, Anira and Kokora will perform the anime’s theme song “Good Rakko,” a playful title that translates to “Good Otter” and also serves as a pun on “Good Luck.”
The anticipation for “Anira to Kokora” is palpable, and fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere to immerse themselves in the world of these lovable sea otters.
