The highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s classic manga, Ranma 1/2, is generating a lot of buzz. Fans can now enjoy the clean opening sequence without credits, which started streaming on Wednesday. The opening theme song, “Wo Ai Ni” (I Love You), is performed by Wednesday Campanella, adding a fresh and exciting element to the series.
In addition to the streaming sequence, there will be two special advance screenings of the second season. These screenings will feature talk show segments with the lead cast members and will take place at Tokyo’s United Cinema Toyosu theater on October 4. The screenings are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. EDT). The talk show segment from the 5:30 p.m. screening will be streamed for free on YouTube and X (formerly Twitter).
The second season is set to premiere on October 4 on NTV at 24:55 (effectively October 5 at 12:55 a.m.). Following the television broadcast, the series will be available for streaming on Netflix.
Toshihiko Seki, who voiced Mousse in the first Ranma 1/2 anime, returns after 32 years to reprise his role. The cast for the second season also includes new members, bringing fresh energy to the series.
Most of the staff from the first season are returning for the second, ensuring continuity and quality. However, there are a few new additions to the team. Kousuke Kawamura joins as one of the chief animation directors, while Ryuta Hayashi and Chihiro Okawa will be directing the art. Nishina will perform the ending theme song, “Panda Girl,” adding another layer of excitement for fans.
The anime premiered nationwide in Japan in October 2024 and was exclusively streamed on Netflix after its broadcast. The first season was directed by Kounosuke Uda at MAPPA, with Kimiko Ueno in charge of series scripts and Hiromi Taniguchi designing the characters.
The anticipation for the second season of Ranma 1/2 is palpable, and fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes and the special screenings. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to dive back into the world of Ranma 1/2!
