The June issue of Akita Shoten‘s Monthly Princess magazine has revealed that Ashibi Fukui‘s Re: Sukeban Deka manga is approaching its final chapter.

The manga, based on Shinji Wada‘s classic Sukeban Deka series, was launched in Monthly Princess in February 2021 and serves as a remake set in the Reiwa era.

Akita Shoten published the manga’s first compiled volume in April 2022, followed by the fourth volume in March 2023.

Wada’s iconic Sukeban Deka manga revolves around Saki Asamiya, a high school delinquent who strikes a deal with the police to infiltrate her former high school and dismantle illegal gang activities in exchange for her mother’s pardon. Armed with her metal yo-yo, she confronts the Mizuchi sisters, who effectively control the school.

Sukeban Deka has also inspired two spinoff manga. Saori Muronaga created Toki o Kakeru Sukeban Deka (The Sukeban Deka who leapt through time), which ran in Monthly Princess from January 2021 to June 2023. Additionally, Shingi Hosokawa and Sai Ihara authored Sukeban Deka Pretend, which concluded in Monthly Princess on March 6, 2024.

The late Wada originally serialized Sukeban Deka in Hakusensha‘s Hana to Yume magazine from 1976 to 1982. The manga inspired a 1991 video anime project, as well as several popular live-action series and films during the 1980s. It also served as the basis for a 2006 live-action film adaptation.
