Revealing the Beast of Kamisari Month Anime Film: Toshinari Shinohe’s New Visuals and Pilot Video

The team behind the upcoming anime film “Beast of Kamisari Month” (Kamisarizuki no Kemono) has unveiled a pilot film and three new visuals. This project is the brainchild of the creator behind “Child of Kamiari Month,” and the new revelations were shared on a Thursday.

The visuals come with a compelling tagline: “The story of a beast that races to the place that gave birth to the island nation.” These images offer a glimpse into the mystical and historical journey that the film promises to deliver.

The film was first introduced at the Osaka Expo in April, tracing its narrative through the ancient Japanese chronicle “Kojiki.” This text is rich with myths, legends, hymns, and accounts of the origin of the Japanese archipelago. The story begins in Izumo, where Japan’s nation-building myths are believed to have originated, and travels to Awaji Island, considered the birthplace of Japan. The creator of the film has described it as a counterpart to the first film, “Child of Kamiari Month.”

“Child of Kamiari Month” made its debut in Japan in October 2021 and began streaming on Netflix in February 2022.

The project was announced by cretica universal along with its first crowdfunding campaign in March 2019. The animation producer for the project was Tetsuro Satomi, the representative director of LIDEN FILMS. Kazuya Sakamoto, known for directing “She and Her Cat -Everything Flows-,” served as the creation director. The original work and planning were handled by Toshinari Shinohe, while Takana Shirai was credited with the original concept and as animation director. Michihiko Suwa, known for his work on the “Detective Conan” films, and Teppei Mishima were the planners and producers. Haruka Sagawa designed the characters, and Tetsurō Takita and Ryūta Miyake wrote the script. The theme song for the film, “Kanna,” was performed by the singer-songwriter miwa.
