The story of “Scum of the Brave” is set in an alternate 21st century where wealthy mafia members undergo ether-enhancement surgery to transform into “Demon Kings.” Bounty hunters known as “Braves” are tasked with taking them down. Yashiro, the protagonist, seeks simple pleasures like pizza, beer, and card games. When three young Braves offer him a substantial sum to be their private tutor, he accepts, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.
The manga, originally launched in 2018, is serialized on LEED Publishing’s Comic Border service. The seventh volume was released on March 21. For English readers, Manga Planet is digitally publishing the manga, providing a global audience with access to this captivating story.
Rocket Shokai, the writer of “Scum of the Brave,” also penned the light novel series “Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004,” which is also being adapted into an anime. This series, too, is set to debut in January 2026 after a delay.
The anticipation for “Scum of the Brave” continues to build as fans eagerly await more updates and the official release date.
