The Anticipated Journey of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run
Fans of the iconic manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure are in for a treat as Warner Bros. Japan has unveiled a thrilling new video for the upcoming anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run. This highly anticipated series, based on the manga by Hirohiko Araki, promises to deliver the same exhilarating action and bizarre twists that fans have come to love.
The video, released on Friday, provides a sneak peek into the characters and the world they inhabit, setting the stage for what is sure to be an epic adventure. The anime is slated to premiere in 2026 and will be exclusively streamed globally by Netflix, making it accessible to fans worldwide.
The anime will be directed by Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi, who previously worked on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Toshiyuki Kato, known for his work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, will serve as the series director. The script is overseen by Yasuko Kobayashi, who has been involved in other series within the franchise. Character design is handled by Daisuke Tsumagari, who also worked on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. The music will be composed by YÅ«go Kanno, with Yoshikazu Iwanami returning as the sound director.
Viz Media has already licensed the manga in English, releasing the first volume both digitally and in print on May 27. The first volume introduces readers to the thrilling world of Steel Ball Run, where riders from around the globe gather in the Wild West for the race of the century. Johnny Joestar, a former jockey paralyzed from the waist down, regains the ability to walk while witnessing a duel fought by Gyro Zeppeli. Driven by curiosity, Johnny joins the race alongside Gyro, embarking on an epic and bizarre journey across the American frontier.
Hirohiko Araki launched JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2004, but it later moved to Ultra Jump in 2005. The manga concluded its run in 2011, spanning 24 volumes. The anime adaptation by david production has covered the manga through Part 6, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Netflix debuted the first 12 episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean globally in December 2021, with the second part, consisting of episodes 13-24, premiering in September 2022. The third and final part, episodes 25-38, was released in December 2022.
In addition to the anime, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise has seen various other entries, including video games, a stage musical, and live-action adaptations of Araki’s spinoff manga Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan. Araki also launched The JOJOLands, the ninth and latest part of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series, in Ultra Jump in February 2023.
