The highly anticipated English dub for SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table is now streaming, bringing the thrilling world of death games to a global audience. This television anime, based on the popular light novel series by Yushi Ukai and Nekometal, has captivated fans with its unique blend of suspense and strategy.
Crunchyroll began streaming the same-day English dub on Wednesday, allowing viewers to experience the intense drama in real-time. The dub features a talented cast and crew who have brought the characters to life with exceptional skill.
The voice director for the dub is Alex Von David, who has assembled a stellar team. Eric P. Sherman serves as the producer, ensuring the project runs smoothly. Ben Harrington is credited as the mixer, and Jonathan Jay Brannen as the engineer, both contributing to the high-quality audio production.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs, providing fans with immediate access to each episode. Additionally, Netflix is also streaming the series, making it accessible to a wider audience.
The anime made its debut on Tokyo MX on January 7 at 11:00 p.m., with the first episode lasting a full 60 minutes. Subsequent episodes will air at 11:30 p.m. The series also premiered on ABC TV on the same day and will debut on WOWOW on January 13. Sota Ueno, known for his work on Days With My Stepsister, is directing the anime at Studio DEEN. Rintarou Ikeda, who worked on The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement, is in charge of series composition. Eri Osada, who designed characters for Blade & Soul, is responsible for the character designs. Noriyoshi Konuma, known for his work on The Dangers in My Heart, serves as the sound director.
The staff also includes LIN from MADKID, who will perform the opening theme song “Not Ersterbend.” Chiai Fujikawa will perform the ending theme song “Inori” (Prayer), with lyrics written by Fujikawa and music composed and arranged by Seima Kondo from Elements Garden.
The light novel series, licensed by Yen Press, tells the story of Yuuki, a professional death game player who finds herself in a deadly manor. The series has gained significant popularity, winning the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award and ranking #1 in the New Title category of Takarajimasha’s 2024 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings.
Banzai Kotobuki Daienkai launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine in April 2023. The fourth compiled book volume was published on September 24, with the fifth volume set to release on January 23, 2026.
