A New Chapter Unfolds for Summer Pockets Anime
Enthusiasts of the evocative anime world experienced a thrilling moment recently with the release of the eighth promotional video for Summer Pockets. This highly anticipated visual treat, unveiled on Friday, showcases the latest episode, titled “Nanami.”
Alongside this captivating glimpse into the anime’s world, a new visual featuring characters Nanami and Shiroha was also released. The eagerly awaited addition to the cast includes Kana Hanazawa voicing Nanami.

Viewers witnessed the premier of Summer Pockets on a variety of channels, including Tokyo MX and BS11 on April 7th. It soon expanded to MBS and Shizuoka Broadcasting System on April 8th. Viewers on AT-X watched from April 10th, and TV Setouchi showcased the series from April 11th. Internationally, Summer Pockets has become accessible on Crunchyroll, ensuring fans everywhere can enjoy the series as it broadcasts in Japan.
In keeping with the franchise’s momentum, a compilation film hit theaters across Japan on August 15th, providing fans with a cinematic experience of the beloved story.
Summer Pockets began its journey as a visual novel, launching initially for PC in June 2018 in Japan. Following this, the Nintendo Switch version was released both digitally and physically in June 2019. The game’s RECENT iteration, Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE, debuted for PC in Japan in June 2020. Since then, it has expanded to mobile platforms, as well as the PlayStation 4.
For international gamers, the English version of Summer Pockets made its debut on Steam in February 2020. Players worldwide can now enjoy this enchanting tale set in a secluded island’s rural district, focusing on “a nostalgic summer.”
The original concept of Summer Pockets comes from Jun Maeda, renowned for his work on Kanon, Anime AIR, Clannad, and Angel Beats!. The illustrious team of Na-Ga, Tsubasu Izumi, Yûnon Nagayama, and Fumuyun collaborated on the original illustrations and character designs, ensuring the game’s visual splendor.
The heart of Summer Pockets is brought to life through the scripts penned by Yû Niijima, KAI of Clannad and Rewrite fame, and Hasama, known for his works on Tokyo Babel and Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi. The soundtrack composition is a harmonious blend of Jun Maeda, Shinji Orito, and other talented musicians from the industry.
In parallel, a manga adaptation titled Summer Pockets -Natsu no Takaramono- began serialization on Shueisha‘s digital magazine Tonari no Young Jump on May 30. This complementary storytelling enriches the experience for fans who enjoy both visual and narrative art forms.
For the spin-off enthusiasts, Summer Pockets Mugyu Days ~Tsumugi no Shima Sanpo~ started its serial run in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Moeoh magazine and on the KadoComi mobile platform February 28. Yûnon Nagayama, the game’s original illustrator, is the genius behind the manga, and Key, the creators of the original game, are involved with the manga’s narrative.
