Top Japanese Anime Shows for the Week of September 22-28

The latest installment of the long-running NHK series, Anpan, made its debut on Friday, September 26, at 8:00 a.m., capturing an impressive 18.1% rating. The show, part of NHK’s enduring Renzoku Terebi Shลsetsu franchise, also known as “Asadora” or Morning Drama, had an earlier airing on Tuesday, September 23, at 12:45 p.m., which garnered a 6.5% rating.

This new live-action weekday morning series draws its inspiration from the life story of Takashi Yanase, the creator of the beloved Anpanman manga, and his wife, Nobuo Komatsu. The series promises to delve into the personal and professional journey of these influential figures in the world of manga.

Additionally, a rerun of the first live-action series based on Kaiji Kawaguchi’s acclaimed manga, The Silent Service, aired on Fuji TV on Thursday, September 25, at 9:00 p.m., securing a 4.6% rating. Another episode of the series was broadcast on Friday, September 26, at 9:00 p.m., achieving a 4.4% rating.

Fans of culinary dramas also had something to look forward to, as a marathon rerun of the 10th season of the live-action series A Solitary Gourmet aired on Tokyo TV on Tuesday, September 23, at 5:50 p.m., earning a 4.0% rating.

The television ratings mentioned above reflect the estimated percentage of the population in Japan’s Kanto region who tuned in to watch these programs live. These figures do not account for viewers who watched the recordings later.
