Trigun Stargaze Anime Release Date Announced for January 2026

Exciting Updates on the Upcoming “Trigun Stargaze” Anime

Fans of the beloved “Trigun” series have something to look forward to as TOHO animation has announced a thrilling teaser video for the upcoming “Trigun Stargaze” anime. The teaser will be released on October 11 at 6:00 a.m. JST (October 10 at 5:00 p.m. EDT). The video’s description reveals that the anime is set to premiere in January 2026.

The anticipation continues to build as New York Comic Con will host the world premiere of the anime’s first two episodes on Friday at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The event will be livestreamed on New York Comic Con’s Twitch channel, offering fans worldwide the chance to be part of this exciting moment. The livestream will feature a panel discussion, although it is unclear if the screening of the first two episodes will also be included in the livestream.

“Trigun Stargaze” is the highly anticipated final phase of the “Trigun Stampede” anime series, set 2.5 years after the conclusion of the original series. This new installment promises to continue the thrilling adventures of Vash the Stampede, a gunman with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head. Vash’s presence in any town often leads to chaos as bounty hunters descend, earning him the nickname “Stampede.”

The creative team behind “Trigun Stargaze” includes Masako Sato, known for her work on “Anima Yell!” and “Haikyu!! To The Top,” who will direct the anime at Orange. Takehiko Oxi, who contributed to the original story of “Trigun Stampede,” returns for this new chapter. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, renowned for his work on “Girls’ Last Tour,” “Is the order a rabbit?,” and “Do It Yourself!!,” will write and supervise the series’ scripts. Kouji Tajima, who served as the original character designer and concept artist for “Trigun Stampede,” is also back. Kiyotaka Oshiyama, who recently directed the critically acclaimed film “Look Back,” will handle the animation character design. Oshiyama previously worked on special effect design for “Trigun Stampede.”

Crunchyroll had previously announced that it would stream the “final phase” of the series when it airs. The original “Trigun Stampede” premiered in Japan in January 2023 and was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired. The series also features an English dub, further expanding its global reach.

The story of “Trigun Stampede” follows Vash the Stampede, a gunman on the run with a massive bounty on his head. His presence in any town inevitably attracts bounty hunters, leading to widespread destruction and earning him the infamous nickname “Stampede.”

Kenji Mutล, known for his work on “Cavity Express,” “BEASTARS,” and “Land of the Lustrous,” directed the original “Trigun Stampede” at Orange. Kouji Tajima was the concept designer and character concept artist, while Takehiko Oxi was credited with the story draft. The scripts were written by Tatsurล Inamoto, Shin Okashima, and Yoshihisa Ueda. Nao Ootsu served as the chief designer, with character designers including Kลdai Watanabe, Tetsurล Moronuki, Takahiko Abiru, Akiko Satล, Sลji Ninomiya, and Yumihiko Amano. Tatsuya Katล composed the music for the series.

The original “Trigun” anime, produced by Madhouse, aired for 26 episodes in Japan in 1998 and was later released in North America for home video in 2000. Geneon Entertainment initially released the series on DVD, but Funimation later licensed it and released it on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. The series is now streaming on Crunchyroll following Sony’s Funimation Global Group’s acquisition of Crunchyroll from AT&T. Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block also aired the anime in 2003.

The “Trigun” anime is based on Yasuhiro Nightow’s manga of the same name, which ran in Tokuma Shoten’s “Monthly Shonen Captain” magazine from 1995 to 1997. The manga returned with “Trigun Maximum” in Shonengahosha’s “Young King Ours” magazine in 1997 and ran until 2007. Dark Horse Comics has released the manga in English.

The “Trigun: Badlands Rumble” anime film debuted in April 2010, marking the first new “Trigun” animation in over a decade.
