The highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Yasuda’s manga, “Blue Miburo,” has been officially announced. Fans can mark their calendars for December 20, when the new season will premiere, focusing on the “Serizawa Assassination” arc.
The promotional video and key visual for the upcoming season were revealed, generating excitement among viewers. The first season of “Blue Miburo” debuted in October 2024 and ran for two consecutive cours, with “Crunchyroll” streaming the series as it aired.
The manga, originally titled “Ao no Miburo,” tells the story of Nio, an orphan who dreams of a better world. The narrative follows Nio as he encounters two men who demonstrate the power of swords to change history. This riveting samurai series is set in the same universe as “Rurouni Kenshin” and chronicles the founding of the Shinsengumi by men fighting for justice and personal gain.
Kumiko Habara will return to direct the new season at Maho Film. Kenta Ihara will once again be in charge of the series scripts, while Yuuko Oba and Miyako Nishida will design the characters. Toshiki Kameyama will serve as the sound director, and Yuki Hayashi will compose the music.
The first season of “Blue Miburo” premiered in October 2024 and ran for two consecutive cours. The manga was launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in October 2021, with the 14th compiled book volume published in July 2024. The manga’s “Shinsengumi Arc” began in April 2024, and the sixth volume of this new part of the manga was released on July 16.
Yasuda’s previous works, such as the soccer manga “DAYS,” have also inspired successful anime adaptations. The television anime for “DAYS” aired in 2016, followed by five original video anime episodes from 2017 to 2018. Additionally, Yasuda’s bicycling manga “Over Drive” inspired a TV anime in 2007.
