Anime enthusiasts are in for a treat as a new series is set to debut with a watch party on October 6 at 10:00 p.m. EDT.
The Los Angeles-based Web3 anime brand Anime.com has announced a partnership with TV Tokyo to stream the anime adaptation of “GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class,” based on Tomohito Osaki’s spinoff novel series. The platform will offer free weekly streaming of the anime starting on October 6 at 10:00 p.m. EDT, accompanied by watch parties for each episode. The company has released an English-subtitled trailer to build anticipation:
The anime will premiere on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on October 6 at 12:00 a.m. JST, which translates to October 7 in some regions. This year’s Anime Expo event hosted the anime’s world premiere on July 5, giving fans a sneak peek of what’s to come.
The anime is directed by Natsumi Higashida at BN Pictures, with Makoto Moriwaki serving as the general director. Series composition is handled by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Mitei Mark II, while Shinji Takeuchi is the chief animation director. Audio Highs is responsible for the music, bringing their expertise from previous works like “Gintama” and “Bakuman.”
The returning cast from the original “Gintama” anime will reprise their roles, ensuring a familiar yet fresh experience for viewers. The spinoff novel series, set in “Gintama” High School, follows the misadventures of teacher Ginpachi Sakata and his students. The story first debuted in 2006, with the latest volume published last December. A new novel volume titled “Oide yo Rinkan Gakkล” (Going on a School Camp) is set to release on October 3.
The “3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei” concept has previously been animated as shorts within several “Gintama” anime series episodes. Sorachi’s original manga, a science-fiction period-drama comedy, began in 2003 and concluded in June 2019 with over 55 million copies in circulation. The manga has inspired multiple television anime series, films, and other adaptations, solidifying its place in anime history.
The upcoming anime adaptation promises to bring the beloved characters and humor of “Gintama” to a new setting, offering fans a unique and entertaining experience.
