The standalone anime adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt Special Edition: Path of the Little Challenger (Kidö Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans: Urðr-Hunt) has generated significant buzz among fans. This animated spinoff from the popular Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans television series recently unveiled a full trailer, marking a milestone in the franchise’s history.

This year, October 31, marks the 10th anniversary of the original television anime’s premiere. To celebrate this occasion, the official website released a special 10th anniversary key visual, capturing the essence of the beloved series.

In addition to the main feature, a new short film titled “Makuai no Kusabi” will be screened alongside Urðr Hunt. This short film also commemorates the 10th anniversary, adding another layer of excitement for fans.

Kengo Kawanishi will reprise his role as Mikazuki Augus, while Yoshimasa Hosoya will once again voice Orga Itsuka. The returning staff ensures that the quality and continuity of the series are maintained, providing a seamless experience for viewers.

The film will hit theaters in Japan on October 31, with plans for a North American release in the works. This standalone anime adaptation is a testament to the enduring popularity and impact of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.

Sunrise and Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the Kidö Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans: Urðr-Hunt spinoff in 2019. It debuted within the Kidö Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans G app when it launched in November 2022. The app, which combined anime and game elements, brought together the original anime and Kidö Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans: Urðr-Hunt. Unfortunately, the app ended its service in January 2024, but the legacy of Urðr-Hunt continues with this standalone anime release.

The television anime’s first season premiered in 2015, followed by the second season in 2016. Daisuki, Gundam.info, and Hulu streamed the first season as it aired, while Crunchyroll streamed both seasons and also provided an English dub. Toonami began airing the first season with an English dub in June 2016 and debuted the second season in October 2017.

Writer Hajime Kamoshida and artists Dango and Hirosuke Terama’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans Gekkö spinoff manga ended in Kadokawa’s Gundam Ace magazine in March 2018.
