Anime enthusiasts in North America have something to look forward to this winter. HIDIVE has announced that it will stream the highly anticipated television anime adaptation of the popular light novel series, “Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling,” starting in January 2026. Fans will get their first glimpse of the series at the Anime Frontier event in Fort Worth, Texas, scheduled for December 12-14, 2025.
The anime, based on the light novel series written by Nekoko and illustrated by NAJI yanagida, promises an exciting journey. The story revolves around an unnamed protagonist who finds himself reborn as a helpless dragon egg in a world teeming with dangerous monsters. To survive and grow, he must level up by battling these very same creatures, all while guided by a mysterious voice in his head. The goal? To become the most powerful being in the world.
The talented team behind the anime includes Yuta Takamura as the director, known for his work on “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable” and “Chihayafuru.” Nobuyoshi Arai serves as the assistant director, bringing his experience from “Banana Fish,” “Vinland Saga,” and “Yuri!!! on Ice.” Tatsuhiko Urahata is overseeing the series scripts, having worked on “Hi Score Girl,” “Haganai,” and “Baki Hanma.” The monster designs are handled by Hiroyasu Oda, while Masahito Onoda is the character designer. The musical score is composed by Koji Kondo, with Tsuyoshi Takahashi as the sound director.
Seven Seas Entertainment is handling the English release of both the light novel series and the manga adaptation by RIO. The light novel series began its serialization on the Shosetsuka ni Narou website in August 2015 and concluded in June 2025. Earth Star Entertainment initially published the series in print with illustrations by NAJI yanagida, releasing 12 volumes. Square Enix later took over the publishing, releasing volumes 13-16. The manga adaptation, launched in Comic Earth Star in May 2017, has seen eight compiled book volumes published by Earth Star Entertainment.
Fans eager to dive into this thrilling new series can mark their calendars for January 2026 and get ready for an unforgettable anime experience.
