In a thrilling announcement, Kadokawa revealed that Hiro Oda’s light novel series, “Yowaki MAX Reijō nanoni, Ratsuwan Konyakusha-sama no Kake ni Notte Shimatta” (Even Though She’s a Timid Young Lady to the Max, She Agreed to Her Shrewd Fiancé’s Bet), is set to be adapted into a television anime. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual and the main cast lineup.
The anime adaptation has garnered significant excitement, especially with the inclusion of Miku Itō voicing the protagonist, Pia Rockwell, and Ryōta Ōsaka voicing Rufus Stan. Both actors are reprising their roles from the novels’ voice drama and the manga adaptation’s voice comic episodes, ensuring a seamless transition for fans of the series.
To celebrate the anime announcement, the novels’ illustrator, Tsubasa.v, and the manga adaptation’s artist, Aji Murata, each created stunning illustrations. These visuals not only highlight the characters but also the intricate world-building that fans have come to love.
The romantic comedy series revolves around Pia, an ordinary graduate student who finds herself reincarnated as a 10-year-old background villainess in an otome game. Remembering the game’s ending, where her engagement to the prime minister’s son, Rufus Stan, is called off and she is banished, Pia requests that Rufus break off the engagement while they are still young. However, her request only piques Rufus’ interest, leading to a bet to see if he will truly call off the engagement in seven years.
The story originally launched on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2020, with nine chapters and two epilogue chapters. Kadokawa began publishing the novels with illustrations by Tsubasa.v in August 2020, and the seventh volume was released in April 2024. Additionally, Murata launched the manga adaptation on Kadokawa’s Flos Comic website in 2021, with the fourth compiled book volume published in January 2024. The overall project has achieved impressive circulation, with 1.2 million copies in print.
Fans of Hiro Oda’s work will recognize his unique storytelling style, which has been praised in previous works such as “Forget Being the Villainess, I Want to be an Adventurer.” This series, too, promises to deliver a captivating narrative that blends romance, comedy, and a touch of fantasy.
The anticipation for this anime adaptation is palpable, and fans are eagerly awaiting more details on the release date and additional cast members. With such a talented team behind the project, “Yowaki MAX Reijō nanoni, Ratsuwan Konyakusha-sama no Kake ni Notte Shimatta” is poised to be a standout addition to the anime landscape.
