In the upcoming June issue of Shueisha‘s Saikyō Jump magazine, it was revealed that Kizuku Watanabe (Koro Teacher Quest!) will launch a new manga spinoff based on Naoya Matsumoto‘s popular series Kaiju No. 8. The spinoff, titled Kaiju No. 8 Relax, is set to debut in the magazine’s next issue on June 4.

Viz Media holds the license for Matsumoto’s original Kaiju No. 8 manga. The company releases both digital and physical chapters. Meanwhile, Shueisha publishes the manga on its MANGA Plus service under the title Monster #8, and the story is described as follows:

“A man, far removed from his childhood dreams, finds himself wrapped up in an unexpected situation…! As he transforms into a monster, he once again aims to fulfill his lifelong dream…!”

Back in September 2021, the manga achieved a circulation of over 4 million copies, making it the fastest Shonen Jump+ manga (excluding those published in Shueisha‘s print magazines) to reach this milestone.

The series garnered attention and acclaim, receiving nominations for the 14th Manga Taisho Awards in January 2021, the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in February 2022, and the Eisner Awards in May 2022. Additionally, it secured the top spot in the seventh “Next Manga Awards” (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō) in the web manga category in August 2021. Notably, Kentarō Hidano and Keiji Andō launched a spinoff manga titled Kaiju No. 8 side B on January 5, which is also being published by Viz Media.

Furthermore, the manga adaptation has inspired a television anime that premiered on April 13. Fans can catch the anime on Crunchyroll with English subtitles, and an English dub is also available. Additionally, the anime streams worldwide on X/Twitter in real time as it airs on TV in Japan.
