Leading the cast are Masanari Wada as Kinji Kataoka and Hiroto Takahashi as Ren Odajima. The supporting ensemble includes Shintarō Yūya, Kaito Hori, and Keisuke Teranaka, bringing depth to this complex mafia narrative.
Helmed by director Daisuke Kamijō, known for his sensitive handling of dramatic adaptations, the series features scripts by acclaimed writer Natsuko Takahashi. The musical score, composed by Masaki Takao, promises to heighten the atmospheric tension.
The original manga presents a dark twist on yakuza dynamics, following Kataoka, a rising gangster forced into exile after a dangerous misstep. His loyal subordinate Odajima accompanies him on this enforced journey, serving both as caretaker and potential executioner – creating intense psychological drama alongside moments of unexpected tenderness.
Originally published as a single volume in 2020 by Akita Shoten, the manga has gained renewed attention with a special two-volume re-release. The second installment arrives just before the series premiere, offering fans new ways to experience this gripping story.
International audiences may recognize author Sai Asai from her contributions to various manga adaptations within the Alice in the Country of Hearts universe, though this current work represents a bold departure into darker narrative territory.
