Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Manga to Receive TV Anime Adaptation in 2026

Square Enix ignited excitement on Friday, revealing that Jinushi’s slice-of-smoke manga Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You (Super no Ura de Yani Sū Futari) will blaze onto TBS screens in 2026. The creator sparked celebration with a freshly drawn commemorative artwork.

Jinushi first exhaled this story onto Twitter in March 2022 before Big Gangan magazine caught the spark in August 2022. Volume 6 landed on shelves January 24, with Volume 7 set to light up stores July 25.

Manga UP! Global fanned the flames by adding the series in April 2023, summarizing:

Sasaki’s life is a haze of fluorescent-lit monotony—until Yamada’s smile cuts through like daylight. When he misses her shift one evening, a chance encounter with rebellious biker Tayama leads him to a hidden smoking spot where two lonely souls kindle an unexpected connection.

Comikey joined the party in May 2023, digitally distributing the English version, while Square Enix Manga & Books began physical English releases in February 2024. Volume 4 arrived March 18; Volume 5 puffs onto shelves August 12. BookWalker also keeps the story burning digitally.

The manga’s quality burned bright enough to claim 8th place in the 16th Manga Taisho awards (2023).
