Sumiko Arai took to Twitter on Wednesday to reveal that the manga “Ki ni Natteru Hito ga Otoko Janakatta” (The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All) is set to receive an official English release.
The storyline revolves around a high school girl who has a passion for English music. She finds herself drawn to the store clerk at a record shop she frequents, only to discover that the attractive clerk is actually a female classmate.
Initially launched as a web manga in April 2022, the series later began serialization on pixiv Comic in April 2023. Kadokawa Shoten handles the print publication, with the second compiled volume released on February 27.
The manga achieved notable success, securing the #2 spot on the 23rd annual Da Vinci “Book of the Year” list and ranking #2 in the top manga for female readers category in the 2024 edition of Takarajimasha’s “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” guidebook.
