Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Manga Hits 200 Million Copies in Circulation

Demon Slayer manga eclipses 220 million copies globally – a sword’s sweep across continents

The blade of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has cut deeper into history – the franchise‘s official X account revealed Thursday that Koyoharu Gotouge‘s masterpiece now bleeds across 220 million copies worldwide. Japan claims 164 million of these demon-slaying tomes, while international shelves buckle under 56 million more.

This watershed follows February 2021’s milestone of 150 million, a figure that mushroomed 43-fold from its pre-anime days. Gotouge first unleashed this demonic odyssey in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump during February 2016, sheathing their blade with the May 2020 finale. The 23rd volume arrived December 2020, with Viz Media carrying the English torch.

The cinematic storm gathers as the first Infinity Castle film unlocks Japanese theaters July 18 across 443 screens – a record battlefield for the franchise. Aniplex maps global conquest beyond 150 territories, surpassing their previous 145-region campaign.

The Western front opens September 12 as Crunchyroll, Sony Pictures, and Aniplex deploy IMAX and premium screenings with subbed and dubbed options.

The anime’s first season erupted April 2019, with Aniplex of America commanding streams on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation before landing on Adult Swim‘s Toonami that October.

After the Mugen Train Arc blitzed October 2021’s airwaves, the December 2021 Entertainment District Arc stormed in with a one-hour prelude. Both campaigns were waged by Funimation and Crunchyroll.

The Swordsmith Village Arc forged ahead April 2023, while May 2024’s Hashira Training Arc premiered before concluding June 2024 with an extended finale – all streamed by Crunchyroll.
